Challenge

Design a covered bicycle pavilion for Hubway and Urban Adventours in the space between Central and Long Wharves.

 

Vision

During my site analysis I was inspired by the struture of piers and how they were supported. This served as the basis for my columns. This bare bones practical approach led the design of the structure and fins that provide cover for the bikes, basicially a fish skeleton hovering above the bike storage and public plaza. As a result it is not just a storage facility but a gateway to the city from the ferry terminal.
