Challenge

Design and assist with construction observation of a 40,000 GSF 9-OR Outpatient Surgery Center on a site border by a granite ledge and a interstate highway.

 

Vision

The Surgery Center is a single story structure planned to accommodate 9 operating rooms each sized at 530 sf, 32 PACU bays, and all of the required support spaces including Central Sterile, Equipment Storage, Staff Locker Rooms and Lounge, Administration, and Clean and Soiled rooms.  The building includes a main lobby with a waiting area and cafe, registration, consultation room, and public toilets. The project creates an outpatient surgical environment focused on delivering high quality patient care.  The major surgical services to be provided will include orthopedics (hand, foot, and ankle and sports medicine), Podiatry, Plastics, ENT, General, Urology, and Gynecology.  This project provided an opportunity for 
JACA to incorporate into the facilities design our core belief that design should support our client’s business plan, attract patients and talented medical professionals while providing an operationally efficient and technologically cutting edge care environment.  This allows our clients to provide the highest quality of care while forwarding a building aesthetic that will both achieve and enhance the short term and long term goals of our clients. The building also was designed to provide the Town of Shrewsbury a new landmark building on a previously empty site at a major highway exit.
